北大广播台

It really is a test of my memory and my level of Chinese proficiency whenever a local introduces his or her name. It’s never just “I’m Grace, He’s Kenny, She’s Alicia”, and just saying your Chinese name as Lee Wei Shun (for example) isn’t sufficient. You have to say it’s “木子李、伟大的伟、顺利的顺”. It is quite a mouthful for the speaker, and a challenge for me the listener….especially when they speak oh-so-quickly…

After Translation this afternoon, Min and I had to rush off for something when we saw Lisa strolling before us. We ran past her and shouted back, “Bye bye!” Seeing our Translation teacher right behind Lisa, I waved and went “老师再见!” Lisa, to our utter “HORROR”, replied in a deep imitating voice, “同学们......再见......” OH MY!!! It was so hilarious Min and I couldn’t stop laughing…hahahaaa….

Right after that incident, I hopped back to my hostel to do a little laundry before heading to PKU’s broadcasting station. Remember the last interview I had with the Korean interviewer? It was poorly recorded and we had to do the entire recording again this evening. This time round, no more hand-held recorder and the noisy 理教; it was in a proper recording studio in 北大广播台.

We were asked about the differences in university life in Singapore and here. Hmmm…did you know, there are no tutorials here, there are COMPULSORY PE lessons, and of course, the classes here are in Chinese! Hee…

A pic with our interviwer Kathy...or better know as XX RONG (erm...芙蓉的蓉)

Tomorrow marks the arrival of Her Majesty and my two aunties! =) Wheeee!
